About Glock 40

The Glock 40 is a striker-fired (SA), recoil-operated, semi automatic pistol developed by Glock Ges.m.b.H., a well-known Austrian firearms producer. The G40 model is pretty much a copy of the Glock 17 L (long slide), but the pistol comes chambered for a different caliber and offers slightly lower magazine capacity. The Glock 40 was introduced back in 2015 and it’s the biggest and one of the very few Glock models that relies on the 10mm Auto caliber.

The Glock 40 comes with a double stack magazine that takes in up to 15+1 rounds of the 10mm ammo. Such capacity is more than satisfactory for all of the main uses of the pistol - self-defense, range fun, game hunting. The 10mm Auto cartridge is actually a very powerful caliber, which is why this model is one of the very few Glocks that are a viable hunting sidearm option.

The overall length of Glock 40 is 9.49 inches and the pistol’s barrel is 6.02’’ long. These specs make the G40 a viable carry choice only for the states with more lenient CCW laws. However, the pistol is one of the best on duty and military sidearm choices, especially if you’re looking for a powerful, yet affordable option.

Just like the rest of Glock pistols, the model 40 is also fully made of polymer. The G40 also features a Modular Optic System, which makes it very easy to mount a red dot sight onto the pistol’s slide. Also, just like other Glock handguns, the pistol allows for a lot of customization thanks to the wide array of available Glock aftermarket accessories.
